The iFilter permits you to search for your OneNote 2003 files from your
SharePoint Portal Web site.
To create the iFilter, follow these steps.
Note This procedure will not work on a computer that is running an x64-based
version of Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Windows Vista.
1. Install OneNote 2003 on the computer that is running
SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
2. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, open your SharePoint Portal
Server 2003 Web site.
3. Click Site Settings.
4. On the Site Settings page, click Configure Searching and
Indexing (listed under the Search Settings and Indexed Content heading.
5. In the General Content Settings and Indexing Status area,
click Include File Types.
6. Click New File Type.
7. In the File extension box, type one, and then click OK.
8. Immediately above Specify File Types to Include, click
Configure Search and Indexing Specify File Types to Include to return to the
Configure Search and Indexing page.
9. In the Other Content Sources area, click Add content
source.
10. If the files that you want to search are located in a file
share, select File Share, and then click Next.
11. In the Address box, type the path of the file share that
you want to search, type a short description, click This folder only, and then
click Finish.
12. Click to select the Start full update check box (in the
Start Update area), and then click OK.
13. On the Configure Search and Indexing page (in Other
Content Areas), check the Last Status Update for the source that you configured
earlier, until the site has been crawled.
When the crawl is complete, the Last Update Status will show Idle.
14. Click Return to Portal (at the top of the Configure Search
and Indexing page).
