You create a site that is based on the Publishing Portal site template in
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. However, you notice that the Publish
button is not displayed on pages of the site.
For example, when you click Site Actions and then click Edit Page, the Submit
for Approval button is displayed at the top of the page. However, the Publish
button is not displayed on the page.
If you deactivate and then reactivate the Office SharePoint Server Publishing
Infrastructure feature or the Office SharePoint Server Publishing feature, the
Publish button is displayed on pages of the site.
This behavior occurs if workflows are enabled for the site. By default,
workflows are enabled in the Publishing Portal site template.
Method 1: Modify the workflow settings
You can modify the workflow settings by clicking to clear the Start this
workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item check box in the
workflow settings. After you do this, the Publish button is displayed on pages
in the site.
To modify the workflow settings, follow these steps.
Important This procedure removes workflow functionality. You still have
approval functionality. However, you do not have detailed workflow
functionality.
1. Connect to the SharePoint Server 2007 site.
2. Click Site Actions, point to Site Settings, and then click
Modify Pages Library Settings.
3. On the Customize Pages page, click Workflow settings under
Permissions and Management.
4. On the Change Workflow Settings: Pages page, click Parallel
Approval under Workflow Name.
5. On the Change Workflow: Pages page, click to clear the
Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item check box
under Start Options.
