CAUSE
This problem occurs because SharePoint Portal Server does not display a warning
message or a dialog box to prompt you to confirm the delete operation when you
delete alternate portal site settings in SharePoint Portal Server Central
Administration.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, make sure that you click the correct mapping name
that you want to delete before you click Delete to delete it. To delete an
alternate portal site setting, follow these steps:
1. Start SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration.
2. Under Portal Site and Virtual Server Configuration, click
Configure alternate portal site URLs for intranet, extranet, and custom access.
3. Under Mapping name in the list of alternate portal
settings, click the mapping name that you want to delete, and then click
Delete.
